How much does a concrete driveway cost in South East Queensland?

It is the first question everyone asks, and the honest answer is "it depends". But it depends on a few specific things, and once you know them you can compare quotes properly instead of just picking the cheapest number.

What drives the price

  • Size. The bigger the area, the more concrete, reo and labour. Most of the cost scales with square metres.
  • Finish. A plain broom finish is the cheapest. Coloured concrete is a step up, and exposed aggregate costs more again because of the stone and the extra work to expose and seal it.
  • Prep and access. If the site needs excavation, fill, or the truck cannot get close, that adds time.
  • Thickness and reo. A driveway that takes a heavy vehicle needs more depth and steel than a footpath.

Why the cheapest quote is often the dearest

Concrete is unforgiving. If someone skimps on prep, reo or thickness to win the job on price, you find out two years later when it cracks. A proper quote spells out the thickness, the reo, the finish and the fall. If a quote does not mention those, ask.
